Our Story
My name is MisTricks.
My life started on April 12, 2016 in Moreno Valley, San Bernadino County, CA. Chloe’s life 2.0 started on June 20, 2016 when she “rescued” me. After she scooped me into her arms our lives have never been the same, in the best way possible.
The word rescue really defines us in 2 ways.
1. I really did need my mom.
I was less than 5 weeks old when my mom saved me.
I weighed less than 3 lbs and my health was not exactly kick-butt…
My eyes were infected and covered in crust, I was the little runt of the litter, and I had already developed severe allergies to MANY things… including fleas, cockroaches, grass, and pretty much any food you can imagine.
A lot of these health problems stemmed from my premature separation from my fur-mom.
People try to tell me that real birth mom was furry, but I don’t even remember her so I tell those people they’re insane.
I mean, I look JUST like my pawrent, Chloe Chung (ig: @Chloe__Chung), so clearly SHE is my birth mother.
2. My mom really REALLY needed me.
Chloe picked me up close to midnight in the middle of a pretty rough neighborhood. She had graduated from Cornell University less than 5 days before.
When she graduated she unexpectedly won a big award at graduation. She was shocked and caught off guard and when she was interviewed after the ceremony by all the important Deans and Professors in their graduation garb, they asked her what she would do now that she had graduated.
She had big plans to attend law school (which is what she is doing now). But instead she answered, “go home, adopt a puppy, and get my wisdom teeth out.”
Chloe had gone through a very difficult time for the 2 years prior to saving me and she knew she needed to be saved as well. (More on this another time…)
She followed through on her promise and immediately drove from Ithaca, NY to her hometown Coto de Caza, CA the following day.
The day she hit CA her phone pinged that I was adoptable and needed saving fast!
That night, she drove 3 hours away to come get me at midnight. She says she took one look at my little body and couldn’t resist.
From that day on we have been inseparable.
Chloe knew she needed a furbaby to make her whole again and she couldn’t have been more right.
It may be cliché, but as much as much as Chloe rescued me, I rescued her.
Now, we think it’s our duty to spread the word on how amazing adoption can be!
Chloe volunteered at the Tompkins County SPCA throughout her 4 years at Cornell University to fill the void in her heart left open when she was without any pets (even though she did typically hide the occasional hamster, hermit crab, or beta fish in her dorm/apt).
She learned the ins and outs of the amazing world of pet adoption and thank goodness because that led to us finding each other!
Rescued is our favorite breed and we know it could be everybody’s if they know just how great (and not-scary) it can be!
I might have come from a less than diva background… But just look at me now! I is the female version of a hustla.
Chloe is the ultimate basic betch and I’m the ultimate fabulous bitch (get it? Cause I’m a female dog. Lol.)
I am a fully certified service dog which means I get to be by my mom’s side 24/7. Rain or shine.
In our free time, when we’re not going at UCLA Law School, we like to travel the world together.
Mom spoils me with all the best treats and toys, even though I can be pretty picky. I like to provide honest reviews for my fur-friends (so check out what we like here).
Ball is life and cuddling is the name of my game.
We’re just figuring it out one day at a time, spreading a little MisTricks treat yoself vibes and adopt don’t shop knowledge everywhere we go.
This is OUR life together!
XOXO,
A Basic Betch & her Bitch
